Our Values

Meet the MYWY Board

  • Susan Clogston

    President

Susan’s love for animals has been a lifelong adventure. Her parents’ home was always a stop off for one rescue or another of the same animal types. Horses entered her life in 1999 for her daughters’ twelfth birthday with an off the track Thoroughbred. This mare had a foal by her side that eventually became Susan’s first horse. She still has him today. Fast forward to December, 2008 when her daughter picked up her first mustang to participate in an Extreme Mustang Challenge the following spring. That mustang was kept at Susan’s home and a new breed stole her heart. As she began to understand their beauty, versatility and the plight they faced, she decided to become involved. Mustang Yearlings/Washington Youth (MYWY) was born in 2010. She is now the proud grandma of four beautiful children.
Susan will always continue to be a voice and an advocate for the American Mustang and the plight they face on the diminishing rangelands throughout the West.

  • Sheri Clevenger

    Board Member

Sheri was a 4-H kid growing up and then becoming a 4-H leader in the 1990’s. She has owned horses most of her life and has enjoyed many aspects of the horse world. Showing, judging and trail riding. She adopted her mustang from a 4-H gentling program in Idaho. She no longer shows but continues to arena and trail ride almost every week year round. Sheri has an extensive background working with non-profits over the last several years and understands the many challenges we face. Her equine experience coupled with her professional skills and fundraising abilities brings a level of experience we were seeking on our board as she expands awareness and gains new support for MYWY.

  • Ian Jones

    Board Member

Ian grew up in Michigan but resided in Western Washington for the last several years. He traveled the world courtesy of the US Army which he joined right after high school. While in WA he was a professional farrier, taking many classes and attending lots of clinics to learn more about horsemanship and to hone and develop his skillset for his job and personal handling of horses both on the ground and under saddle. Ian was also featured as a clinician at the Idaho Horse Expo. Ian is a two time MYWY competitor (burro and horse) and has also served as a volunteer. Shortly after joining the MYWY board in 2022, Ian and his family moved to Virginia then back to his home state of Michigan where he currently resides with his wife and four children.
